Matt wrote: You know, it's really damned funny... I've been doing the online dating thing off-and-on for about 18 months, since I work at home as an artist, it made sense. I have to say, however, that the female stereotypes about most men seem to be just as applicable to most women I've met... yes, there are very few decent men out there to date, I understand it, but not ALL of us are complete chowderheads. Really. I'm generally pretty cautious when I first meet a woman, and try to make it clear that I REALLY DO want to just hang out and shoot some pool for a bit, get to know them, that sort of thing. Holy Oke, Massachusetts -- ! Apparently that approach makes women try to mentally fit me for a tux and a baby-carrier within five minutes of meeting me, even though I make it ABUNDANTLY clear that I've taken myself out of the gene pool. I have had more women subtly try to turn me into a family man, there's the "Let's drop by Babies 'R' US, just for a sec"... bridal magazines left on the coffee table... steering me by the rings section of a department store... all this within a few weeks of dating. Dating! It's called DATING. Relax, ladies, if a man wants to marry you, he'll let you know.

Deb wrote: Women aren't the only ones who misrepresent "average" figure. Men weighing anything from 125 to 250 tend to say they are average even if they are nothing but skin and bones or radically chunky. Among men, apparently anything over 5'5 is considered close to 6 feet tall. Guys also describe themselves as good looking or above average in appearance when they are ugly as a sin! They also describe themselves as athletic when they are merely not chubby. For men, their own appearance is a real thing of beauty no matter what they look like, but they all think that women should be Cindy Crawford or Tyra Banks or at the very least, Sandra Bullock.

Heron wrote: I love your site. Just so your readers know, women are not the only gender to lie or misrepresent themselves online. I met a man who told me he was in his "mid-forties" only to meet him in person and find out he was 68. That was two years older than my father!

Brian wrote: I'm still agog at the utter lack of manners displayed by women when an ad is sent, an ad that THEY have posted, an ad that meets every qualification that THEY have requested. Of all the ads I've responded to, very few (less than 3%) have the courtesy to reply with even a "thank you but no."
